Angel Dweh

Liberian Independence Day Celebration is live music by Liberian artist Angel Dweh to celebrate Africa's first independent country. Liberia, a country along the coast of western Africa, proclaimed its independence on July 26, 1847. It's the only black state in Africa never subjected to colonial rule and is Africa’s oldest republic. During the 1900s, Liberia helped found the United Nations & the African Union. It supported Nelson Mandela's vision to end the South African Apartheid. In 2005, Liberians elected Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to the presidency, making her the first woman to be elected head of state in Africa.
